I feel like I've been transported into the middle of Dante's epic poem, Inferno. Meg is Virgil to my Dante.
Charon ferried us across the River Styx and we charmed our way past Cerberus through song. I wonder how many circles of hell I'll have to travel through in order to rescue the Beast from Hades.
I have faith and belief that I will find him and save him, but there's something about this Underworld that's unnerving. Meg doesn't seem phased in the slightest by the mythical characters come to life.
At the entrance to the Underworld, there's a sign that reads:
THROUGH ME THE WAY TO THE INFERNAL CITY:
THROUGH ME THE WAY TO ETERNAL SADNESS:
THROUGH ME THE WAY TO THE LOST PEOPLE.
JUSTICE MOVED MY SUPREME MAKER:
I WAS SHAPED BY DIVINE POWER,
BY HIGHEST WISDOM, AND BY PRIMAL LOVE.
BEFORE ME, NOTHING WAS CREATED,
THAT IS NOT ETERNAL: AND ETERNAL I ENDURE
ABANDON ALL HOPE, ALL YE WHO ENTER HERE.
Regardless of what this may say, I will not give up hope. I will find the Beast and save him. I can't bear the thought of any harm coming to him...
((funny story- I'm actually currently reading Dante's Inferno for class. So the fact that I actually know what I'm talking about makes me giddy. Though the subject isn't exactly one that induces giddiness...also, my professor has that quote posted on our classroom door, which is awesome. And we're not the only class that uses the classroom, so it's even more awesome. ))
((also, I posted my first journal exactly a year ago today, which means that a year ago last night I got accepted and the first Beauty and the Beast account was created! Look how far we've come in a year!))
